Since our campaign has Underworld Elements, a Xenos Strike Force and an Imperial Guard Kill Team we've run into a bit of an issue of income vs. profit. In teh Inquisimunda book there is never any mention of profit and only of income. For Underworld Elements this is fine as they have territories as normal.
The wording for the Xenos Strike Force is as follows:
We decided early on that in this case the income is direct profit as it is so little, we do not use the rules for starvation. However, that left us with several possible interpretations (I'm using my friends number of models which is 7), GKB = Giant Killer Bonus:
Winning a game could mean the following:
Income (profit) = 1D6 x 7 + 7D6 + GKB = on average 49 + GKB as straight profit, not too bad.
However, we decided to play it as 2D6 per member after winning a game, so that would be 14D6 + GKB, on average the same.
Losing a game posed a problem though, as it would generate on average:
7D3 = 14 Geld
Eldar aren't the cheapest bunch and he hasn't suffered any deaths yet but it kind of kept the fun out for him, particularly after losing every time. So to balance it out we played it as follows after losing a game:
7D3 + GKB = 14 + GKB
That means our Xenos fighter always gets the GKB even if he loses, we've only done it this way once so we don't know if he starts earning too much, as the ratings of my team and the Imperial Guard are much higher (higher starting cost and more men so more experience). I'm not sure if this is how it was intended as the text does mention the GKB with unsuccesful missions. So any input here would be greatly appreciated.
Onto the Imperial Guard, their text says the following:
Assuming the following (my emphasis) is a typo: "If the Kill Team was unsuccessful, roll an additional D6 for each fighter" and should have said "successful" this works out as follows for our player's eight strong team:
Losing:
1D6 x 8 = 28 on average
Winning:
1D6 x 8 + 8D6 + GKB = 56 + GKB on average
Counting this as profit rather than income makes it quite useful, as income to be corrected it's rather low as my territories generate me over 100 + GKB on average after a game. Again, we don't use the rules for starvation and I would appreciate your input!
The wording for the Xenos Strike Force is as follows:
Strike Forces do not own territory and their income is provided via successful completion of their missions. After every successful scenario, roll D6. Each fighters earns that much in income. If the Strike Force was unsuccessful, roll D3 for each fighter. They receive the ‘Giant Killer Bonus’ as listed. Additionally, if the warband won the scenario, they may roll an additional D6 for income generation. They also receive the ‘Giant Killer Bonus’ as listed.
